Reblogging because this is literally one of my (very few) strong unpopular opinions about Homestuck.

I mean you can say that Vriska is one of the more developed characters in Homestuck but you really can’t gloss over the fact that she is a very terrible person.

I can appreciate her as a character but I have to agree. It’s also very hypocritical because these are always the same people who criticize Cronus and always defend tav/vris as okay and ‘better than’ cronus/mituna because “omg she was only trying to make him a better person cronus is just a MEANIE MEAN MEAN JERK”

Vriska’s one of the best characters in homestuck due to her depth, cunning, and complexity. This doesn’t mean she wasn’t a friggen bully.

I dont think this is a problem simply in the fandom, its also rampant in the comic itself. Tavros is constantly made the butt of the joke, blamed for the things that VRISKA caused (like his paralysis, which also has overtones of abelism which should be mentioned) and all sorts of other things. I even think later Hussie has Tavros THANK Vriska for what she did.

Its just… really really bad and while I can understand people in the narrative glossing over it to some extent given the culture they come from, it cant be excused in the fandom. full stop.
