i hope you dont mind me asking but just wondering becasue you love bart so much, what did you think about how they handeled him becoming kid flash? the whole reading an intire library thing
#image heavy post, #abuse mention
Sorry this took so long to respond to but this is kind of a loaded question.
(also I’m gonna this preface by saying that it’s been a very long time since I’ve read the beginning of Titans v3 but I skimmed through the first 18 issue to be able to do this but if I’m missing anything important let me know)
Okay so while I like the reading of the SF Library and see it as a very Bart thing to do, I don’t like how the transition from Impulse was handled. Deathstroke kneecaping him was used as a way for Bart to realize that there are consequences to heroing/life and thus enabling him to show that he was ready to take on The Legacy.
But here’s the thing. Bart was already aware of the consequences and his place the legacy. After all, Bart was there when Johnny Quick happened
not to mention when he finally lost his own mentor
Max had been in life or death situations at least 3 times before the end of Impulse too, each time it deeply impacted Bart. Not only that, Bart had literally experienced death before FMA happened when one of his Time Scouts was killed/destroyed, he received the feedback/knowledge of that experience and it made him seriously consider quitting heroing. The people around Bart made him realize that there are consequences to actions too, like when he discovered one of his friends was being abused, he was faced with the situation of tearing a family apart w/ what could have been a false accusation (it wasn’t, but the abuse ended up being Preston’s mom and not the dad like Bart had thought) and his friend’s safety.
Even though Bart was raised in a VR, he realized long before his time in TTv3 that that’s not the way the real world worked.
[insert all of Impulse #1-89 here]
I love the last two panels because that is SO VERY Bart but the first panel leaves a sour taste in my mouth because if ANYONE was aware of the Legacy, it was Bart
